Besant Nagar was founded in 1875 in Chennai, the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located in the Southern part of Chennai, with an approximate population of 3,51,000. Out of that, there are approximately 18,000 males and 16,000 females. The area is named after the noted lady theosophist Annie Besant. The area is surrounded by surplus greenery and a desirable climate, making it a calm and soothing place to live. It is located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal to the east, Thiruvanmiyur to the south, Adyar to the west, and Adyar Estuary to the north.
