Hathras is a famous city in Uttar Pradesh and an administrative district that was created in 1997. It was done through the merger of some portions of Mathura, Aligarh, and Agra and lies within the Division of Aligarh. The city is governed by the Nagar Palika Parishad or the Municipal Council. It covers 142 square kilometers in total and has a population of 160,909 people as of the year 2011. The main languages spoken here include Hindi and Urdu.
